However, besides fame and glory, the winners also receive another prize: A stunning crown that symbolizes their achievement and status. But how much do these crowns cost, and what are they made of? Let’s find out.

The Miss World crown

The Miss World crown is designed by Mikimoto, a Japanese company that specializes in cultured pearls. The crown features a blue globe in the center, surrounded by six white gold branches that represent the continents. The current Miss World crown was introduced in 2017 and is the fourth crown in the history of the pageant. The previous crowns were also made by Mikimoto but had different designs and colours. The first crown, used from 1951 to 1973, was a simple tiara with pearls and diamonds. The second crown, used from 1974 to 2000, was a larger and more elaborate tiara with a red velvet cap and a cross on top. The third crown, used from 2001 to 2016, was a silver and gold crown with a turquoise stone in the center and five spikes that represented the five oceans.
The Miss World crown is estimated to be worth around $100,000, according to the pageant’s official website. However, the crown is not owned by the winner, but by the Miss World Organization, which lends it to the winner for the duration of her reign. The winner also receives a replica of the crown, which she can keep as a souvenir.

The Miss Universe crown

The Miss Universe crown is designed by Mouawad, a Lebanese-Swiss company that specialises in fine jewelry and watches. The crown is inspired by the theme of “Power of Unity”, and features a golden canary diamond in the center, weighing 62.83 carats. The diamond is surrounded by 1,770 smaller diamonds, totaling 175.49 carats, and set in 18-karat gold. The crown also has three golden canary diamonds on each side, representing the values of community, strength, and beauty.

The current Miss Universe crown was introduced in 2019 and is the tenth crown in the history of the pageant. The previous crowns were made by different companies, such as Diamond Nexus Labs, DIC, and Mikimoto, and had different shapes and styles. Some of the most notable crowns were the Sarah Coventry crown, used from 1963 to 2001, which had a star-shaped design and a female figure on top; the Mikimoto crown, used from 2002 to 2007, which had a phoenix motif and a large pearl in the center; and the DIC crown, used from 2014 to 2018, which had a geometric design and a blue sapphire in the center.
The Miss Universe crown is estimated to be worth around $5 million, according to the pageant’s official website. However, like the Miss World crown, the crown is not owned by the winner, but by the Miss Universe Organization, which lends it to the winner for the duration of her reign. The winner also receives a smaller version of the crown, which she can keep as a souvenir.
The Miss World and Miss Universe crowns are not only beautiful and valuable, but also meaningful and symbolic. They represent the achievements and qualities of the winners, as well as the diversity and unity of the world. They are also part of the history and tradition of the pageants, which have been celebrating women’s beauty and empowerment for decades.
