NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Jos Buttler showcased his flair by attempting to emulate MS Dhoni’s iconic helicopter shot in a captivating pre-match net session at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Friday.
With the anticipation building ahead of RR’s opening fixture against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday, Buttler’s playful attempt at the signature shot added an element of excitement and nostalgia for fans and teammates alike.

The gesture not only highlighted Buttler’s versatility as a batsman but also served as a testament to the enduring legacy of Dhoni’s iconic stroke in the cricketing world.

RR franchise took to their official social media handle, X (formally Twitter) and shared a video of Buttler with a caption, “Buttler has 7 letters…”

The talented England cricketer concluded the group stages of IPL 2023 with a commendable tally of 392 runs in 14 matches, despite facing five ducks. During that season, Buttler managed to notch up four half-centuries, showcasing his ability to anchor innings effectively.

His consistent performances in the IPL are not new, as evidenced by his exceptional showing in the 2022 season where he clinched the prestigious Orange Cap. In IPL 2022, Buttler’s remarkable form saw him amass a staggering total of 863 runs, including four centuries, propelling Rajasthan Royals to the final.
Throughout his IPL career spanning 96 matches, Buttler has accumulated 3223 runs at an impressive average of 37.92 and a blistering strike rate of 148.32. His innings have been characterised by a blend of aggression and finesse, resulting in five centuries and 19 half-centuries.
