Lawrence Bishnoi
, claimed responsibility for the attack hours later, saying, “Salman Khan, do not take us lightly. This is the first and last warning. After this, the firing will happen at your home.”
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray asked why culprits “are being caught from Gujarat only.”
“Why all such people are being caught from Gujarat only? The traitors (rebel Sena MLAs) also fled to Gujarat. The drug consignment is also coming to Gujarat. Now these people fired [the gun] here and went to Gujarat. So why all such people are going to Gujarat only? I am not blaming the people of Gujarat. But people of Gujarat should realise that this way, the state’s name is being defamed,” he said in a press conference.
While briefing the media over the incident, on Sunday, CM Eknath Shinde said, “This is an unfortunate incident. Police are investigating it. The accused will be caught, and stringent action will be taken against them. Those who take the law into their own hands won’t be spared.”
