In this conversation, the actor took us back to the days when he was an assistant director to Karan Johar on ‘My Name Is Khan’ along with Varun Dhawan

Bollywood star Sidharth Malhotra graced the Rising Bharat Summit in the capital and the actor took us back to the days when he was an assistant director to Karan Johar on My Name Is Khan along with Varun Dhawan.

When asked about how the transition from being an AD to an actor happened, the actor revealed, “When
Karan Johar
saw me and Varun Dhawan do all sorts of things behind the camera for a year or more, he felt we had the fire to become actors. But we still had to audition for three months and we didn’t even know we were being auditioned for his film.”

Talking about him being an outsider and
Varun Dhawan
being David Dhawan’s son, Malhotra said, “He was definitely more aware about what post production means, whereas I was seeing everything for the first time. Working in Student of The Year felt like visiting Disneyland. I used to lie to my parents for my different shoots. I was an assistant director and also modeling for few clothing brands.”

On doing action scenes on his own

Today, everyone wants to see stuff that’s authentic and real, and a lot of hardwork goes behind it. We train like real-life athletes. I was trained by international trainers for my recent film Yodha and even the film I did with Akshay Kumar called Brothers from the U.S. and South Africa.

About Yodha

Sidharth Malhotra and patriotism seem to go hand in hand. After Shershaah, Mission Majnu, and Indian Police Force, he’s back in action with another ode to nationalism.

What’s the story about?

An Aeroplane hijack where a soldier helps the passenger and fight against the terrorist. But the damage to the flight engine made it very tough to survive the situation.
