NEW DELHI: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde‘ (this year the cup is ours) narrative came to fruition on Sunday as RCB won the Women’s Premier League (WPL) final against Delhi Capitals, securing their long-awaited trophy with an impressive eight-wicket win at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Reflecting on the triumph, RCB off-spinner Shreyanka Patil, who emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the WPL with an impressive tally of 13 scalps, expressed a mixture of sentiment and relief. She bowled a game-changing spell of 4 for 12 in the final.

“They keep saying ‘Ee sala cup namde’ and we got it. That’s it guys, it is for the fans,” remarked Patil, acknowledging the significance of the victory for the team’s supporters.

Patil commended the role of RCB women’s head coach Luke Williams in maintaining a composed atmosphere within the dressing room throughout the tournament.
“Day in and day out we put our hard work. We felt like family. We did not know Luke much. During the last game that we won against Mumbai, he had tears. We are looking forward to continuing this,” she remarked, highlighting the bond within the team and their aspirations for the future under Williams’ guidance.
The talismanic Elysse Perry, who topped the run-makers’ chart in the WPL with an impressive tally of 347 runs, praised the overwhelming support shown for all the teams participating in the event.

“Pretty bonkers, to be honest. It’s another level for us – the support for all the teams has been phenomenal and it’s been unbelievable,” Perry expressed, emphasizing the significance of the fans’ encouragement throughout the tournament.
Perry credited spinner Shreyanka and her compatriot Sophie Molineux (3 for 20) for their pivotal roles in shifting the momentum of the final match after Delhi Capitals had surged to 64 for no loss.
“She turned the match on its head. The rest of the spinners backed her up. Shreyanka is such a young player and she has got the world at her feet. It was a special performance,” Perry acknowledged, praising Patil’s exceptional contribution to RCB’s victorious campaign.
