Veteran India off-spinner and former Chennai Super Kings player Ravichandra Ashwin has reached out to his ex-employers, asking for “help” with tickets for his kids to watch the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season opener between CSK and Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
“Unreal ticket demand for the #CSKvRCB #IPL2024 opener at Chepauk. My kids want to the see opening ceremony and the game. @ChennaiIPL pls help,” Ashwin posted on microblogging website ‘X’ on Monday.

Ashwin plays for the Rajasthan Royals currently in the IPL.
Last week, Ashwin had expressed his gratitude towards former India skipper MS Dhoni, acknowledging the pivotal role the CSK captain played in shaping him into one of the world’s premier spin bowlers. Ashwin credited Dhoni for providing him with opportunities that contributed significantly to his growth in the sport.
Reflecting on his early days with CSK during the inaugural edition, Ashwin remembered being surrounded by cricketing legends like Mathew Hayden and Dhoni. Despite initially feeling like an outsider in the team dominated by stars like Muttiah Muralitharan, Ashwin cherished the experience and the guidance he received.

“I owe a debt of gratitude to Dhoni for a lifetime for the opportunities he afforded me,” Ashwin said, particularly highlighting Dhoni’s decision to entrust him with the new ball against formidable batsmen like Chris Gayle, an experience that stayed with him throughout his career.
Ashwin, who made his Test debut in November 2011 against the West Indies, recently achieved the milestone of playing 100 Test matches for India during the fifth Test against England in Dharamshala.
Notably, he also joined an elite club by becoming only the second bowler, after Muttiah Muralitharan, to claim 500 wickets in fewer than 100 Test matches.
