Goran Ivanisevic and Novak Djokovic had been working together since 2018.
Novak Djokovic has split from long-time coach Goran Ivanisevic, the Serb announced in a post on social media. The pair have been working together since 2019 and Ivanisevic has been a part of Djokovic’s camp since then.
In a post on Instagram, Djokovic said, “Goran and I decided to stop working together a few days ago. Our on-court chemistry had its ups and downs, but our friendship was always rock solid. In fact, I am proud to say (not sure he is) ) that apart from winning tournaments together, we also had a side battle in Parchisi going on… for many years. And – that tournament never stops for us. Šefinjo, thanks for everything my friend. Love you.”
The Serb also paid tribute to the former Wimbledon champion Ivanisevic recalling their time together which brought them 12 Grand Slam titles.
“I remember clearly the moment I invited Goran to be part of my team. It was back in 2018, and Marian and I were looking to innovate and bring some serve magic to our duo. In fact, not only we brought serve, but also lots of laughter, fun, year end no1 rankings, record breaking achievements and 12 more Grand Slams (and a few finals) to the count since then.”
Djokovic has had a below-par 2024 thus far. He
lost in the semi-finals of the Australian Open
to eventual
champion Jannik Sinner
and
exited the Indian Wells Masters
in the third round. He then announced he was going to sit out the ongoing Miami Masters while juggling “private and personal schedule”.
Djokovic is expected to next play during the clay court season, starting with Monte Carlo Masters, which begins 7 April.
