Gujarat Titans (GT) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by six runs in the fifth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Sunday, March 24 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With this win, all the host sides have won every encounter in this season of the IPL so far.
Chasing 169 to win, Mumbai lost Ishan Kishan early. However, Impact substitute Dewald Brevis and Dewald Brevis (46) and former captain Rohit Sharma (42) added a crucial 77 for the third wicket and it looked like an easy chase. But timely dismissals from R Sai Kishore and Mohit Sharma meant that Mumbai needed 19 to win from the last over, Hardik Pandya hit 10 off the first two balls, but Umesh Yadav came back to take two wickets and won the match by six runs for Gujarat.
Titans posted 168/7. Bumrah was the main pick among Mumbai bowlers as he went for 3/14 in his four overs. Sai Sudharsan top-scored for the Titans with 46.
Earlier, MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and asked GT to bat first Hardik said he was back where everything side. Amid the news of injury concern for Gerald Coetzee, the South African all-rounder made his debut for Mumbai and so did pacer Luke Wood.
For Gujarat Titans, Umesh Yadav, Spencer Johnson and Azmatullah Omarzai made debut.
