India star KL Rahul has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru after missing the last four Tests of the five-match series against England. Rahul is looking to make a comeback in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Rahul provided an update on his recovery via his Instagram handle, sharing pictures of his intense training sessions at the NCA in Bengaluru along with a simple caption that said, “Hi.” Rahul had to pull out of the remainder of the Test series against England after he faced an issue with his right quadriceps and he recently returned from London after consulting a medical team in London.

Rahul played an 86-run knock during India’s first innings of the opening Test against England in Hyderabad. However, the hosts lost the match by 28 runs and the team suffered a huge setback when Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja were ruled out of the 2nd Test in Vizag. Jadeja made a return to the side for the 3rd Test match in Rajkot after suffering a hamstring injury. However, Rahul continued to be not fully match-fit to play the Test. The BCCI, while announcing the updated squad for the 5th Test, informed that the medical team was closely monitoring Rahul and coordinating with specialists in London for the management of his quadriceps issue.

“Mr KL Rahul, whose participation in the final IDFC First Bank Test was subject to fitness, has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test in Dharamsala. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring him and coordinating with specialists in London for further management of his issue,” BCCI said in a statement.

RAHUL’S STRUGGLES WITH INJURY

Rahul will be raring to attain full fitness as the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League approaches. Rahul will be leading the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024, and they are set to face Rajasthan Royals in their opening fixture on March 24. Notably, Rahul was ruled out of IPL 2023 after sustaining a hamstring injury during the match against RCB. In May, he underwent surgery and continued to be out of cricketing action for a long period until the Asia Cup in September 2023.
