Karishma Tanna supports aspiring designers for sustainable fashion , but gets stumped when Firstpost’s Lachmi Deb Roy asks her on what she is doing to reduce the carbon footprints

Actress Karishma Tanna graced the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week and in an exclusive interview with Firstpost’s Lachmi Deb Roy, spoke about sustainable fashion, the designer she was wearing for the occasion, and was left stumped when asked what she does to reduce the carbon footprints.

Edited excerpts from the interview:

Hi Karishma, what do you have to say about the collection that you’re wearing?

Oh, it’s very very innovative and very different. I like this designer and his name is Yash Gada. And the young student is very passionate about his work. And you know, everything, his entire collection is on denim fabric. So I was pretty surprised whether it will fit me, you know, whether that body shape will come. But here you go, you know, it’s really nice and comfortable.

And what do you have to say about sustainable fashion? Since this looks like sustainable fashion (the dress she wears), what do you have to say about it?

I think I’m liking this new trend which is from sustainable fashion and all that. Because it just inspires a lot of new designers. And also it’s just environment friendly.

And did you see the carbon footprints? What do you do personally in your life to reduce carbon footprints?

Wow, you just put me on a spot, one second.

Who do you think wearing a sustainable fashion does?

I try to do that. I mean, I try to wear a sustainable fashion.

Do you wear what you have? Do you use, reuse?

Of course, I think everybody reuses their clothes. And that’s what I also do.

And if you have to say that you want to save the planet, and you are a believer of slow fashion, what is it that you will follow from now?

Believer of slow fashion? I think sustainable clothes. I think that’s about it.

And sustainable living, what do you have to say about that?

I think you don’t use plastic. I think, you know, because there are a lot of living beings in the ocean also. If you’re referring to that, that is. I know.

Do you use the air conditioner very often?

Not very often because it doesn’t suit me. But yeah, wherever if you are going somewhere, I do use it.
