NEW DELHI: The details of electoral bonds published on Election Commission website has triggered a political storm with opposition parties targeting the BJP, which got more than 50% of total donations since 2019.
While the focus is on the big donors who have given money to political parties in crores, there are 132 entries in the list of contributions which are worth only Rs 1,000.
Interestingly, some big companies also feature in this list of donors who bought electoral bonds worth only Rs 1,000. ITC made 15 donations of Rs 1,000 each. This is besides the several other bigger contributions made by the company to political parties.
The list of Rs 1,000 donors includes several individuals. There were 8 people on the list who donated Rs 1,000 only.

However, there were 12 others who bought electoral bonds worth Rs 1,000 more than once.
The list on the EC website also shows that political parties encashed Rs 1,000 electoral bonds 103 times. This list is led by Shiv Sena which encashed Rs 1,000 bonds 44 times, followed by BJP’s 31.
