AP Dhillon garnered backlash as his gesture of breaking the guitar during the performance didn’t go well with netizens

Popular Indian-origin Canadian musician AP Dhillon, who is known for tracks like Brown Munde, Toxic, Fate, Insane and others, recently delivered a mind-boggling performance at Coachella 2024.

However, Dhillon garnered backlash as his gesture of breaking the guitar during the performance didn’t go well with netizens.

Slamming this action, we saw several users commenting on his Insta post. While one wrote, “Pop Artists break guitars to look cool. They try to imitate Rock/Metal Artists not realising that they break their guitars out of the adrenaline rush and intensity of playing the instrument. It always hurts to see the poor instrument face the wrath of these wannabes. In India, we pray to the instrument. Pooja karte hain. Saraswati Maa basti hain usme. This is pathetic. Do better AP,” another netizen commented, “Respect the things which brought you to this stage, It’s completely your and your loss.”

In 2023, a documentary based on the life of AP Dhillon was released on Prime Video. In its review, Firstpost wrote, “The series says that we know the music but we don’t know the man. This is his untold story. But it chooses to focus more on the fluffy and frothy side, never veering into the dark alleys like Asif Kapadia’s 2015 documentary Amy, which shed light on singer and songwriter Any Winehouse’s chilling encounter with drug abuse. Of course, Dhillon’s may have been a journey far removed from this gloom, but the idea of pitching everything to perfection is exactly the series’ imperfection.

Maybe I’m being critical because I haven’t followed this man’s rise to the top. To see Salman Khan and
Ranveer Singh
at the screening of the series speaks volumes of where he has truly come and what he has remarkably achieved. But isn’t it too early to make a showreel on how he achieved what he did? He could indeed be one of a kind, can’t say the same about the series; one of those days when being a 90s kid is a bane.”
