TIRUVANNAMALAI: Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin accused BJP-led NDA govt at the Centre of “using the RTI Act to spread lies among people”, in an apparent reference to BJP’s latest salvo blaming Congress and DMK for conceding Katchatheevu to Sri Lanka.
Addressing a public meeting on Wednesday, Stalin said the govt was, till now, using ED, I-T and CBI to spread lies.
He flayed Union finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman for her response “akin to a moneylender charging usury interest” when the Tamil Nadu govt requested funds to undertake rain relief and rehabilitation work after the state was battered by a cyclone, triggering incessant rain and floods.”When we insisted on rain relief, she asked for accounts for the Rs 5,000 crore fund released earlier, just like a moneylender charging usury interest. It is not the Centre’s fund but the state govt’s loan, which will be paid by the state govt,” Stalin said.
People who do not like the word ‘Dravidian’ have attempted to paint the Dravida model of governance as an enemy of religion. “We are not against religion. We are against people who attempt to divide people based on religious lines,” he said.
