The western Himalayan region is bracing for fresh snowfall and showers expected from nightfall of March 5 and is expected to continue until March 7.

Over the past 24 hours, congenial snowfall and moderate rainfall have been observed in the northern regions, particularly across Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, with minor precipitation reported elsewhere.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has cautioned that these weather conditions are due to a brewing Western Disturbance. The forecast predicts scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall throughout the Western Himalayan region.

Conditions over the next five days are attributed to a western disturbance and are expected to bring scattered snowfall and rainfall to areas such as Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh, while light rain may persist in states including Assam and Meghalaya.

Meanwhile, the southern terrain of Rayalaseema and Kerala should prepare for an increase in temperature, with hot and humid weather predicted.

Likewise, other states, including Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring regions, as well as Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, are also expected to experience rainfall in the duration. Contrasting weather is expected in the South, with hot and humid conditions likely to prevail in southern regions, including Rayalaseema and Kerala, for the foreseeable future.
