SESSION SUMMARY – 66 runs, 22.1 overs and 7 wickets. This session saw the Kiwis assert their dominance, led by the sensational performance of Glenn Phillips. Like a whirlwind, Phillips tore through the heart of the Australian middle order, claiming a remarkable five-wicket haul. Even as Australia seemed to be finding their footing at 113 runs with only four wickets down at the start of the second session, Phillips unleashed a devastating spell, starting with the crucial breakthrough of Travis Head. From there, he continued to wreak havoc, snatching three more wickets, while Matt Henry provided valuable support with two dismissals of his own. Despite some missed opportunities in the field, the Kiwis maintained their resolve and managed to restrict Australia to a modest total of 164 runs leaving New Zealand a target of 369 runs to chase. However, just before the end of the session, the Kiwis suffered a setback as Tom Latham lost his wicket, adding a twist to the proceedings.
